Currently, the population of Murray Bridge is estimated to be 19,720 people, while the broader Murraylands region retains an estimated population of 37,120.

The 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide, which includes Murray Bridge and the Adelaide Hills, suggests a net addition of 29,000 people, 13,000 new dwellings and 13,000 new jobs over the next 20 years.

In the longer term, this Plan even suggests the city could grow to a population of 50,000 to 100,000 people based on the release of 1,400 hectares for green-field residential development of 11,000 new dwellings, 850 hectares of general/light industrial zoned land and major retail, health and educational developments in the city centre.

Planning is currently under way to ensure built and social infrastructure keep pace with this significant growth.

In Murray Bridge, much of this growth is expected to focus around the Gifford Hill residential and equine recreation precinct.
