Already Burke Urban has initiated a community involvement programme and helped facilitate a number of Community workshops where Murray Bridge residents, community groups and business representatives have joined to discuss their future from a local perspective. Many of those workshops discussed ways in which the redevelopment of Murray Bridge and the integration of Gifford Hill and Monarto could be done in a way so that the area might be seen as a model for sustainability. Particular recognition was given to the fact that the Gifford Hill project properly managed could reinforce and consolidate the existing Rural City making existing community infrastructure, facilities and businesses more attractive and viable and with town expansion encourage more activity and employment opportunities to the region.

Complementary facilities and rationalized infrastructure upgrades will form part of the overall master plan, but the utilization of existing infrastructure and minimal duplication is a very significant sustainability objective for Burke Urban at Gifford Hill.
